Meet & Greet vs Fast Track vs VIP Lounge: What's the Difference?

Meet and greet, fast track and VIP lounge access are often confused. Here is what each one does, what it costs you in time, and which to choose for your trip.

Travellers often use "VIP airport service" as a single phrase, but it covers three different things. Understanding the difference helps you pay for what you will actually use.

Meet and greet

A personal escort. A greeter meets you, guides you through the terminal and helps with the practical steps. It is about people and guidance. It can include a porter and a handover to your driver. See our meet & greet service.

Fast track

A priority route through security or immigration. It is about speed. It depends on the airport, which decides whether fast-track lanes exist and who can use them. Where it is available, it can be added to meet and greet.

VIP lounge

A comfortable place to wait before a flight, with seating, refreshments and quiet. It is about comfort, and it matters most when you have a long gap before boarding or a long connection.

Which should you choose?

  • Short connection: meet and greet with fast track, so you reach the gate quickly.
  • Long connection: lounge access, with a greeter to take you there.
  • Travelling with children or an older relative: meet and greet, for the pace and the help with bags.
  • Arriving late at night: meet and greet and a pre-booked chauffeur, so there is no wait at the kerb.
  • A first trip through a very large airport: meet and greet, simply for the guidance.

Combining them

The services are not mutually exclusive. A common package is meet and greet on arrival, a chauffeur to the hotel, and on the return a greeter, fast track and a lounge. Our airport VIP assistance can be tailored to the airport you are using.

Three journeys, three answers

A 50-minute connection through a large hub. Speed matters most. A greeter who knows the route, plus fast track where it is offered, helps you reach the next gate. No service can guarantee a connection, but it improves your odds.

A late-night arrival with two young children. Comfort matters most. You want someone to carry bags and steer a pushchair, and a driver waiting at the exit. A lounge does not help here.

A four-hour layover. Comfort again, but of a different kind. A lounge offers food, quiet and, in some airports, showers, and a greeter can take you there and bring you back to the gate on time.

What to check about each

  • Fast track: does it cover security, immigration or both, and is it open at the time you travel? Some lanes operate only at set hours.
  • Lounges: is there a time limit on your stay, and is entry guaranteed at busy times? Capacity can be limited.
  • Meet and greet: how far can the greeter go with you, for instance to the gate? This depends on the airport.

A note on availability

What is possible differs by airport and sometimes by terminal. If you are not sure, ask us which options your airport offers before you book.

Frequently asked questions

Is fast track included in meet and greet?

Not always. It depends on the airport. Your quote states what is included.

Do I need a lounge if I have a meet and greet?

Only if you have time to wait. Meet and greet is about getting through the airport smoothly, while a lounge is about comfort during a gap.
